A team of students from Oklahoma Panhandle State University traveled to Illinois this week to compete in the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) national judging competition, returning as reigning national champions.
The event brings together leading agriculture programs from across the United States. The OPSU NACTA Team previously earned national championship honors in 2025, securing the university’s place among top agricultural programs. After months of preparation and hands-on training, the team is representing OPSU in a multi-disciplinary contest that tests applied agricultural skills.
NACTA competitions challenge students in areas such as livestock and crops, agricultural mechanics, and knowledge bowl events. The experience focuses on critical thinking, teamwork, and real-world problem-solving.
“Our NACTA students represent the very best of Oklahoma Panhandle State University. Their discipline, resilience, and commitment to excellence reflect who we are as an institution,” said OPSU President Dr. Julie Dinger. “Defending a national championship is no small task, and I am incredibly proud of the way these students represent OPSU, the Panhandle, and the future of agriculture on a national stage.”
Tracy Kincannon, dean of the College of Agriculture, Science, and Nursing said: “This team has put in an incredible amount of work to prepare for this competition. Their commitment, teamwork, and attention to detail are a direct reflection of the hands-on education we value at OPSU. We are proud to see them return to the national stage to defend their championship.”
The 2026 OPSU NACTA team includes students from Oklahoma as well as surrounding states and beyond. As competition begins this week, they continue a tradition of excellence while representing their university at a national level.
