The 2022 football season is less than a month away. The Great American Conference released their yearly Preseason Poll for football.
The 2021 champion in Harding comes back as the preseason favorites receiving six of the 12 first place votes earning 115 points in the poll just edging out Ouachita Baptist who finished with 114 points and five first place votes.
Southeastern followed suit with the last team with at least 100 points as the Savage Storm earned 104 points including the last first place vote of the poll. Henderson State placed fourth taking 87 points as Oklahoma Baptist rounds out the GAC top five with 77 points.
East Central takes 73 points for sixth ahead of Arkansas Monticello with 57 points overall. Southern Arkansas, who the Rangers open their 2022 campaign with placed eighth with 49 points in the poll.
The next four are rounded out by Arkansas Tech who the Rangers will host for the Homecoming game on November 5th. Northwestern is 10th with 31 points in front of Southwestern Oklahoma State at 28 points and Southern Nazarene with 15 points.
Northwestern will open their season on the road against Southern Arkansas on September 1st at 6:00PM. The first home game will be on September 10th at 6:00 PM.
