The Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggies played against the host University of Science of Arts Drovers (USAO). This past weekend marked the beginning of the second half of the conference schedule for the Aggies, who faced off against Mid-American Christian University.
The Aggies had a solid start and excellent response to the Drovers in the first set and never looked back after that. The final scores of the match were 25-20, 25-12, and 25-17 for the Aggies in their victory over the Drovers. Junior setter Remi Vargas led the offense with 12 assists and had four digs for the team. Senior setter Lesly Galarza followed her with seven assists.
Angela Youngs, a junior outside hitter for the Aggies, led the team in offensive production with six kills, a .200 hitting percentage, two service aces, and nine digs. The senior opposite hitter Rebecca Candido produced six kills and a .214 hitting percentage.
Gracie Soza, a junior libero for the Aggies, was the team's defensive leader, finishing with ten digs and eight service aces. She was followed by freshman Bryanna Rosario, who had ten digs, three service aces, one solo block, and two block assists.
"It was nice to see the team come back from a tough match last night," commented Head Coach Julie Allen. She continued, "I am very impressed with how well the team was able to execute the game plan, stayed focused on the next opportunity, and supported each other throughout the match."
Next up for the Aggies is to host No. 25 ranked Texas Wesleyan University on Friday, October 14th at 6 pm. And, No. 9 ranked Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) on Saturday, October 15th at 1 pm in Anchor D. Arena.
