Northwestern Oklahoma State University Rangers Drop Match to Southwestern 3-1

Northwestern hit the floor for their last home match against Southwestern Oklahoma State and lost 3-1 to the Bulldogs. Addison Wimmer collected 15 kills followed closely by Carmae Jones with 12. Cameron Lobb accumulated 34 assists. Andrea Coady picked up 17 digs closely followed by Wimmer. Wimmer achieved a double double on the evening.  

Set One: 

The rival teams exchanged blow for blow to start the match. Carmae Jones and Courtney Russell contributed an early kill each for the Rangers. Addison Wimmer fired off a cross shot kill to tie the game 4-4. Southwestern quickly countered with back to back kills to force Northwestern into a timeout. Out of the timeout, the Bulldogs extended their lead with a 4-0 run leading the Rangers 11-3. Jones fought back with a cross court kill. The Bulldogs responded by stacking together multiple two point runs. Wimmer contributed a tip kill to close the gap 18-10. Jones powered through the block for back to back kills for Northwestern. Southwestern fired off a slide and a second ball kill to take the first 25-15.  

Set Two: 

The Bulldogs started the match with an early 3-0 run. Jones fired off a solo block and back to back kills to switch the momentum. Wimmer contributed a kill to close the gap 7-5. Southwestern countered with a kill. The Rangers fought back with a 4-0 run to take the lead 11-9 and force the Bulldogs into a timeout. Off the bench and out of the timeout, Brooke Miller contributed a cross court kill for Northwestern. Tarra Parks powered through the block to extend her teams lead 15-10. Coady fired off a service ace and Cameron Lobb contributed a setter dump. Jones and Wimmer played tough at the net to extend their lead 22-13. Russell powered through the block for a slide kill to allow Northwestern to take the second 25-15.  

Set Three: 

Once again both teams battled back and forth at the start of the third. Jones contributed yet another tip kill for Northwestern. Wimmer powered through the block for a line kill to tie the match at 3-3. The Bulldogs collected back to back 2-0 runs to establish a small lead 8-5. Parks fired off three consecutive kills to close the gap. Wimmer contributed an overpass ten footline kill. Southwestern countered with back to back kills to hold onto their lead. The two teams settled into another stalemate exchanging point for point. The Bulldogs started to pull away with a 4-0 run, forcing the Rangers into a timeout 18-15. Miller fought back with a deep cross kill. Southwestern capitalized on Northwestern errors and strung together another 3-0 run. Jones powered through the block to contribute another kill. Russell found an open spot to close the gap 23-20. The Bulldogs fired off a setter dump to clinch the third 25-20.  

Set Four: 

Parks fired off a deep kill to start off strong for the Rangers. The Bulldogs responded with back to back kills. Jones and Wimmer contributed a kill each to push Northwestern into a small lead 4-2. Southwestern countered with a 4-0 run to retake the lead and force the home team into a timeout. The Bulldogs continued to run, stringing together another 3 points to lead 10-5. Lobb fought back with a setter dump. Wimmer powered through the block for a cross shot kill. Wimmer heated up, firing off back to back kills to close the gap 16-9. Off the bench, Abree Elsheimer contributed a solo block and a kill. Southwestern countered by stringing together a 4-0 run. Coady fired off back to back ace serves. The Bulldogs quickly responded with a middle slide to close the match 25-16.  

Northwestern faces off in their last regular season conference game on the road at East Central University. The first serve is set for 6:00 PM on Friday in Ada, Oklahoma.
