Northwestern Oklahoma State University Rangers Place 6th at GAC Championship Meet

Northwestern Oklahoma Cross Country competed in the GAC Championships Saturday morning. Northwestern had one place in the top 30 before having four in the top 50 of the meet. Overall Northwestern placed 6th in the GAC Championships.

"The men's team looked stronger then they have all year and figured out how to pack up with one another and push each other through the race. Benjamin, Jeremy, and Willem all set personal records today""stated coach Sterlin Broomfield.

Zachary Cox paced the Rangers on Saturday as the first one for the Northwestern to finish placing 26th in the meet with a time of 26:58.6 with an average mile time of 5:25.7 in the 8K race. Next for the Rangers was Benjamin Morfin crossing the finish line in 33rd with a time of 27:30.2 with an average time of 5:32.0 for a new personal record.

Davin Soto was the third Ranger to cross the finish line with an average mile time of 5:35.8 with a total of 27:49 in the meet Saturday. Salat Ibrahim checked in at 42nd finishing with a time of 28:00.2 and an average of 5:38.1. Jeremy Smith set his new personal record in the meet with a time of 28:04.4 placing 44th overall. Draven Hidalgo was 59th overall in the meet and the fifth Ranger to cross the finish line with a time of 29:16.6.

Willem Johnson was up next for Northwestern finishing with a time of 31:01.4 with an average mile of 6:14.5 for 80th place in the meet setting his new personal record. The Rangers had three straight finish in a row as Cooper Frymire placed 81st followed by Nick Castillo in 82nd. Frymire finished with a time of 31:26.3 averaging 6:19.5 per mile. Nick Castillo was next at 32:00.4 for the 8K. Liam Johnson finish the meet with a time of 32:32.4 for 86th place in the meet.

The final standings for the GAC championship meet were led by East Central (24 Points), second Harding (50), Oklahoma Baptist (70), Ouachita Baptist (90), Southern Arkansas (125), Northwestern (164), Southern Nazarene (211), and Arkansas- Monticello (260).
