The Aggies men's basketball team traveled to Waxahachie, TX, to take on Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
Tonight's game would tip off the conference opener. Both teams were ready and hungry for the conference season to start. In the last meeting in Waxahachie, the Lions won 86-68.
Early in the first half of the action, the Aggies would bounce back from a four-point deficit from two buckets from Sophomore Kaleb Stephens. At the 5:48 mark, Senior Rayquan Elliott would sink a three-pointer, scoring 21-22 Lions. The Lions would take the lead into halftime, 37-28.
In the contest's second half, the Lions would stretch their lead up to 17 and didn't look back to take the 93-65 final.
Aggies would shoot 41% from the floor, going for 25-61. Aggies would have 25 rebounds, including one block and four steals.
After the game coach Laird shared"Other than our turnovers,we executed our game plan pretty well in the 1st half.But we let their shot making and offensive pace rattle us a bit to much early in the 2nd half.We got too far down to make a run.We will regroup tomorrow
